Some Toronto residents call this part of the city The Beaches, while others call it The Beach. Both names suit the neighbourhood, which feels like a resort town in the middle of an urban jungle. The Beach is home to flower-filled parks and a three-kilometre-long boardwalk that crosses the sand. You can easily spend the entire day on the beach, building sand castles, windsurfing, or - a favourite past-time in this neighbourhood - rock stacking. The Beach is home to two of the continent’s best beaches - Woodbine Beach and Kew-Balmy Beach. Both were recently awarded the Blue Flag designation, an international symbol of beaches with safe and clean water.

The Distillery
This National Historic Site was founded in 1832 by William Gooderham and James Worts, the two names on the famous sign at the entrance to The Distillery. Once the largest distillery in the British Empire, this collection of 40 buildings is now the largest example of Victorian Industrial Architecture in North America. In the past few years, the Distillery District has gone from a forgotten corner of the city to one of Toronto’s cultural hot spots. The pedestrian-only village is home to countless galleries, theatres, and restaurants. You can spend an entire day touring the neighbourhood’s artist studios featuring photography, textiles, glass, ceramics, sculpture, and paintings. Or shop for that one-of-a-kind gift; from specialty food shops to automobile memorabilia, you’ll find something for even the pickiest person on your list. Be sure to stop in at Soma Chocolatemaker to breathe in the aroma.
